THE POPULAR MOUNT ANNAPURNA EXPEDITION

Mount Annapurna is a marvelous peak that is found on the western section of Nepal. The Annapurna Expedition will take you to the tenth highest mountain in the world. The Mount Annapurna Expedition is one of the most sought after in Nepal particularly because it is the lowest 8000-meter peak. Two Frenchmen Maurice Herzog and Luis Lachenal and their Annapurna Expedition team were the first people to go on an Annapurna Expedition and get to the summit in 1950. There are four summits that are named Annapurna and the main one is the Annapurna Base Camp which is also located to the west of the Annapurna sanctuary. Mount Annapurna is located in Gandaki Province, Nepal. It is the 10th highest mountain in the world at 8,091M. Mount Annapurna is known for the difficulty and danger of its climb as well.

THE ANNAPURNA EXPEDITION ROUTE
The typical Annapurna Expedition route is taken from the Manang area will be 65 to 70 degrees of precipitous climbing with ropes that are fastened for about 500 meters to camp one. For the Annapurna Expedition to get to camp II, about 1000 meters of rope will be used on the uplands, and there will be some elongated areas with precipitous climbing. The route on camp II to III on the Annapurna Expedition is considerably easier with a meandering span and a progressive ascend with 1300 to 1500 attached ropes to be used. From camp III to the apex of the mountain, climbers do not need attached rope and the main rope comes into play. On the Annapurna Expedition, you can expect snow slides between Camp I and II.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ANNAPURNA EXPEDITION

The Annapurna Expedition can take 50 to 60 days and requires trekking equipment as well as guides and porters. An assortment of mountaineering equipment is also necessary for the Annapurna Expedition. Group roping will be quite necessary for the Annapurna Expedition as this is an excursion on precipitous snow covered ground. You will need plastic mountaineering boots, an ice axe, crampons as well as other equipment for the Annapurna Expedition. If you are working with an agency for your Annapurna Expedition, they will advise you on the equipment that you should bring and what they will provide.
