CHITWAN NATIONAL PARK AS THE BEST PARK IN THE SUBCONTINENT

Formerly known as the Royal Chitwan National Park, the Chitwan National Park is Nepal’s first National Park and was set up in 1973. Chitwan National Park has an ecosystem that is quite opulent and you will find mammals here, birds, many reptiles and lots of water animals. All these are available at the Chitwan National Park in different assortments and classifications. There is no doubt that the Chitwan National Park is the most popular among the different parks and reserves and a tour of Nepal will not be complete if you do not tour the Chitwan National Park which is without a doubt one of the subcontinent’s best.

CHITWAN NATIONAL PARK AS A `UNESCO` NATURAL HERITAGE SITE

In 1979, the Chitwan National Park was declared as a UNESCO natural Heritage Park and this has uplifted its status as a great national park. The Shivlalik Hills are part of the Chitwan National Park. The park stands overlooking the great Narayani, Rapti and Reu Rivers. The Chitwan National Park contains about 600 plant species, about 50 mammal species, about 520 species of birds, about 50 amphibian species and a number of reptile species. The one horned Asian rhinoceros is without a doubt the focal point of the Chitwan National Park along with the Royal Bengali Tigers which are nocturnal. There are many other unique animals including the Rhesus monkey, the gray snakes and other endangered animals and birds.
