THE IMPORTANCE OF PASHUPATINATH TEMPLE
On Eastern side of Kathmandu, on the shores of the Bagmati River is the Pashupatinath Temple, a Hindu temple of the Lord Shiva that is one of the most important globally. Pashupatinath temple has an overwhelming architectural designs and aesthetics and is the representation of faith, religion, culture and tradition.

Pashupatinath temple is a sacred temple of Hindu Lord Shiva who was referred to as Pashupati which refers to the master of the whole universe. The river next to the Pashupatinath temple known as Bagmati is also a sacred river that contains many holy elements. Hindu faithful dive into the river next to Pashupatinath temple everyday while reciting the verse from the age old Vedas.

SITES IN AND AROUND THE PASHUPATINATH TEMPLE
In and around the Pashupatinath Temple, you will see the gold painted representation of the guardian gods. You will also see the four faced statue known as the Chaturmukha. There is also the Chadeshvar, an engraved Licchavi linga from the 7th century. When you tour the Pashupatinath Temple, you will also see the Brahma Temple and the Dharmashila, which is a stone where holy oaths are taken. On the Pashupatinath Temple tour you will see the Arya Ghat and the Gauri Ghat or the holy bath. There is also the Pandra Shivalaya or the fifteen shrines. While you pay homage to the Pashupatinath Temple you will also see the Gorakhnath and Vishwarup Temples and the Guhyeshwari (Guhjeshwari) Temple. The Kirateshwar Mahadeva Mandir and Surya Ghat are also great sites while you visit the Pashupatinath Temple.

TIPS FOR TRAVELERS TO PASHUPATINATH TEMPLE

It is best for tourists to visit the Pashupatinath Temple from around September to November and also February to April. While visiting the Pashupatinath Temple or any other temples, remove your shoes and do not take photos without asking for permission. There is an entrance fee for Pashupatinath Temple which is 1000Rs.
